Trail Beam

Overview

Stock headlights are designed for road approval, not for the conditions adventure riders actually encounter. The Trail Beam was built to solve that gap — starting with the housing shape. Multiple CFD iterations shaped the aerodynamic profile until turbulent drag at 120 km/h was minimised. The electronics use a constant-current driver with thermal regulation so output stays consistent regardless of temperature. The IP67-rated housing has a conformal-coated PCB and full gasket sealing throughout.

Key features

01

CFD-optimised housing

The lamp body was iterated through computational fluid dynamics simulation to minimise turbulent wake and buffeting at speed.

02

IP67 weatherproofing

Full submersion-rated gasket sealing, conformal-coated PCB, and stainless fasteners throughout. Rain, mud, and pressure washing handled.

03

Wide beam pattern

Engineered for peripheral illumination rather than forward throw — fills the gaps your main beam misses, especially on unlit roads and bends.

04

Constant-current driver

Temperature-regulated electronics maintain consistent lumen output whether it's 5°C in the mountains or 42°C on a summer motorway.

05

Plug-and-play harness

Includes relay, in-line fuse, and handlebar toggle switch. Protects your bike's original wiring and installs in under 90 minutes.

06

Universal mounting

Crash bar clamps and tube clamps (16–22mm) included. Specific brackets available for BMW GS, Triumph Tiger, and Honda Africa Twin.

How it was made

01

Problem documentation

Every product starts with a recorded frustration from real riding.

02

Research & benchmarking

Understanding existing solutions and where they fail.

03

Design iteration

Sketching, CAD modelling, tolerance analysis.

04

Physical prototyping

3D-printed and machined prototypes for fit and function testing.

05

Road testing

Real-world validation over hundreds of kilometres in varied conditions.

06

Production

Only when testing reveals no meaningful improvement remaining.

Reviews

Changed my night riding completely. The beam pattern is genuinely wide — not just forward throw. Installed in 75 minutes on my Tiger 800.

Built quality is exceptional. The housing feels like it belongs on the bike, not like an afterthought. IP67 rating held through a full monsoon season.

I've had three other aux lamp setups over the years. This is the first one where the harness didn't give me problems. The relay wiring is done properly.
